Dear City of West Hollywood Government LA County Animal Care and Control does NOT respond to loose cats. There is no menu option for cats and if/when they pick up the call it is confirmed.You might be one of the West Hollywood residents who recently spotted a little pig flying down the street. While the unexpected pursuit made for quite the neighborhood moment, it’s also a good reminder of what to do when you spot a lost or loose animal in WeHo.
If you spot a lost, loose, or found animal in West Hollywood — whether it’s a dog, cat, or an unexpectedly speedy pig — contact Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control at (310) 523-9566 or submit an Animal Control request online. Animal Care and Control responds to lost-and-found animal service requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
⚠️ Remember: use caution around an unfamiliar or frightened animal. Keeping yourself, the animal, and everyone else on the street safe comes first.

A new Los Angeles Times report highlights a sharp rise in cat and kitten euthanasia at city shelters, with nearly 900 kittens euthanized in the first six months of 2026—a 43% increase from the same period last year. Stray Cat Alliance founder Christi Metropole spoke with the LA Times about the growing need for spay and neuter resources, as demand for city vouchers continues to outpace funding.
With kitten intake also climbing, the need for prevention, foster homes, adoptions, and lifesaving resources has never been more urgent.
